Description

***** THIS IS AN AWARD NOTICE, NOT A CALL FOR COMPETITION ***** This procurement is being concluded following a mini competition under the Crown Commercial Services - RM6235 Space Enabled and Geospatial Services. Brief Description of Requirement The UK Government is developing a portfolio of activities to deliver the five priority capabilities outlined in the Space Industrial Plan. This commission addresses the critical capability of Space Data Architecture and Applications (SDAA), with a primary focus on Earth Observation (EO), a core enabler for the UK to leverage space data as a strategic asset across national security, economic growth, and public service improvement. Space-enabled applications contribute £13.7 billion to the UK space sector. Within this, space data is vital: supporting defence, intelligence, environmental monitoring, and climate resilience. For example, space data helps monitor environmental risks (noting that 25% of national security risks are environment-related), and over half of all Essential Climate Variables depend on satellite Earth Observation data. EO data alone is valued at £1.25 billion per year to the UK public sector. This means that space data enables better decision making to protect national interests and improve the safety of citizens, an important part of the Government's Digital Blueprint.
