Experian's Mosaic Public Sector product is a social classification designed to identify groupings of consumer behaviour to support public sector decisions, resource strategies and communications. The methodology utilised is unique to Experian and has been developed over a number of years to create the social classifications - using data from a wide variety of both public and private sources, and at different levels of geography. Experian's Mosaic is designed to describe the UK population in terms of their typical demographics, social, economic, cultural, and lifestyle behaviour. The population is classified into 66 detailed 'Types' that identify groups of individuals or households that are as similar as possible to each other and as different as possible from any other group. These 'Types' group together hierarchically into 15 high level 'Groups'. Within each type there are a number of key features that make each category distinctive - which is useful when devising communications or delivery strategies targeted towards each type.
