    "description": "The works to be provided under this contract consist of a comprehensive highways and transport, maintenance and improvement service for the Council. \r\nThe Contractor may be required to undertake elements of the following tasks forming part of the service in each Service Year (Core Tasks):\r\n\r\n\u2022\tProvision, maintenance and cleaning of road signs,\r\n\u2022\tProvision and maintenance of road markings and road studs (in accordance with the Plan for Road Markings),\r\n\u2022\tRoutine and Reactive highways asset repairs (in accordance with Code of Practice for Highway Inspections),\r\n\u2022\tDrainage maintenance activities relating to all drainage assets (as defined in the Code of Practice for Drainage maintenance),\r\n\u2022\tBridges and highway structures routine and cyclic maintenance \r\n\u2022\tVegetation and debris removal from bridges and highway structures, including removal of blockages from watercourses,\r\n\u2022\tWinter Service Operations,\r\n\u2022\tEmergency response,\r\n\u2022\tMaintenance of Highways Electrical assets (in accordance with the Code of Practice for Highways Electrical Maintenance).\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Contractor may also be required to undertake elements of the following types of maintenance and improvement schemes, in each Service Year (Work Tasks):\r\n\r\n\u2022\tHighway and junction improvements,\r\n\u2022\tBridges and highway structures reactive maintenance, improvements and upgrades,\r\n\u2022\tDrainage improvement schemes,  \r\n\u2022\tMaintenance of traffic signals,\r\n\u2022\tVehicle safety fencing,\r\n\u2022\tTraffic management and calming,\r\n\u2022\tPedestrian and cycle infrastructure improvements,\r\n\u2022\tPublic Rights of Way bridge Improvements and upgrades,\r\n\u2022\tRoad space reallocation schemes,\r\n\u2022\tPublic realm improvements,\r\n\u2022\tCar Park maintenance and improvement schemes,\r\n\u2022\tFacilitation and support for events,\r\n\u2022\tPublic transport infrastructure including bus stops and bus priority measures,\r\n\u2022\tAccessibility improvements,\r\n\u2022\tCarriageway \u0026 footway construction, reconstruction/surfacing,\r\n\u2022\tSite investigation,\r\n\u2022        Contractor design,\r\n\u2022\tAsset inventory, inspections, data collection, surveys and analysis,\r\n\u2022\tStreet lighting Improvements,\r\n\u2022\tTraffic signal Improvements,\r\n\u2022\tVerge maintenance and weed control,\r\n\u2022\tHedge maintenance.\r\n",
