    "description": "The Authority would like to appoint a Main Contractor to deliver a programme of repairs and restoration to return Green\u0027s Mill to working condition.\r\n\r\nGreen\u0027s Mill is a Grade 2 listed heritage site built by Mr Green in 1807. His son, George Green, a celebrated mathematician inherited the Mill but after his death in 1841 it fell rapidly into disrepair. \r\n\r\nAcquired by Nottingham City Council in 1985 it was restored as a working Windmill along with construction of new buildings to form a Science Centre where visitors can discover the importance of Green\u0027s Theorem. \r\n\r\nDue to decay in the cap frame and issues with deterioration, the sails were removed in 2022. The cap has difficulty turning due to various alignment issues, including the fantail pinion at the curb popping out of gear; it has had such problems for some time. \r\n\r\nThe freehold is held by Nottingham City Council and the site is operated (including public facing) by Green\u0027s Mill Trust on behalf of Nottingham City Council.\r\n\r\nThe project is grant funded by the Museum Estate and Development Fund [MEND] which is managed by Arts Council England.\r\n",
