    "description": "This Main Works package will restore around 350m of canal and associated works. \r\n\r\nIn summary this will include the construction of canal channel, a lock, vehicle access bridge, the creation of Public Rights of Way (PROW) and the installation of a water supply pumping system.  \r\n\r\nAn overview of the works is listed below:\r\n\r\nGroundworks\r\n\u2022\tStrip existing topsoil and stockpile\r\n\u2022\tInstallation of necessary temporary access roads and hardstanding areas to facilitate the proposed construction methodology\r\n\u2022\tImplement agreed temporary protection measures to utilities\r\n\u2022\tExcavation to formation levels\r\n\u2022\tTesting of excavated materials as required by the remediation strategy\r\n\u2022\tStockpiling on site of suitable excavated material\r\n\u2022\tDisposal off site of any materials deemed unsuitable \r\n\u2022\tInstallation of drainage\r\n\u2022\tPlacing excavated and imported materials to final profiles, including topsoil\r\n\u2022\tAny other temporary works required to facilitate the proposed construction methodology, including the design of all such temporary works\r\n\r\nCanal\r\n\u2022\tConstruction of 350m of canal channel, including soft and hard edging\r\n\u2022\tInstall pumping system for water supply\r\n\u2022\tCanal overflow\r\n\r\nBellhouse Lane Bridge\r\n\u2022\tConstruction of new vehicular access bridge\r\n\u2022\tExcavation to formation and construction of bridge foundations\r\n\u2022\tFabrication, delivery, assembly and installation of precast culvert\r\n\u2022\tFormation of earth approach ramps\r\n\u2022\tRoad surfacing, vehicle restraint system and drainage to bridge\r\n\u2022\tSurfacing and drainage to footpath approaches \r\n\r\nLock\r\n\u2022\tConstruct new lock structure, including in-situ concrete, coping stones and brick facing\r\n\u2022\tManage installation of lock gates (via nominated supplier)\r\n\r\nRights of Way\r\n\u2022\tConstructing and / or maintaining temporary rights of way, including farm access\r\n\u2022\tConstruction, realignment or upgrade of 2.2km of footpaths\r\n\u2022\tRemoval of temporary footpaths and associated reinstatement\r\n\u2022\tInstallation only of new fingerboard signage for pedestrian routes\r\n\r\nSoft and Hard Landscaping\r\n\r\nClay Relocation\r\n\u2022\tMovement and placement of clay \r\n\u2022\tReworking of clay as per Earth Works Spec Report for clay liner\r\n\r\nCDM\r\n\u2022\tFulfilment of the Principal Contractor role as defined under CDM Regulations 2015\r\n\r\nThe tender documents are available from Jon Lindley.
