    "description": "1\tIntroduction \t\r\n\r\n1.1\tCompany Background\r\nSt Gilbert\u0027s Church of England Primary School (known as \u0027the School\u0027) is a standalone primary academy.  Academy status was granted in January 2013.\r\n\r\nLocated to the West of the historic town centre of Stamford, the school currently has 300 pupils form 4 - 11 years of age. \r\n\r\nThe current school buildings were established in the early 1970\u0027s with a further addition at the beginning of the 2000\u0027s.\r\n\r\n\u0027The School\u0027 is currently rated \u0027Good\u0027 by OFSTED\r\n\r\n \r\n1.2\tProject Background\r\nThe existing outdoor play area was installed circa 2008/9 and included:\r\n\u2022\tWet pour safe play surface throughout\r\n\u2022\tOutdoor secure storage for resources\r\n\u2022\tActivity areas and play equipment \r\n\r\nThe equipment is now at the end of its economic life and \u0027the School\u0027 are looking to redesign the existing area with a space that is inviting and inspirational for the pupils in the Reception phase of the school\r\n\r\n\r\n1.3\tHigh Level Overview of Requirements\r\nBidders are asked to submit a formal tender for the redevelopment of the Early Years outdoor play area \r\n\r\n.\r\n1.4\tExisting Provision\r\nThe existing provision has the following equipment installed:\r\n\u2022\tWooden picket boundary fencing\r\n\u2022\tWet pour safe play surface throughout\r\n\u2022\tCentral climbing frame and slide\r\n\u2022\tSand pit\r\n\u2022\tMud pit with activity panels\r\n\u2022\tSecure storage for outdoor resources\r\n\u2022\tRaised bed planter\r\n\u2022\tCovered activity area \r\n\r\nSee appendix 1 for photographs of the existing provision \r\n\r\n\r\nTo create and inviting and inspirational outdoor play area for use by pupils in the Early Years (Reception) phase.\r\n\r\nKey requirements are:\r\n\r\n\u2022\tRemoval/recycling of existing facilities including surfacing and timber structures \r\n\u2022\tEnsuring compliant foundations for any new surfacing or structures\r\n\u2022\tDesign service to be completed in collaboration with \u0027the School\u0027\r\n\u2022\tProvision of equipment that will aid the physical development of all pupils\r\n\u2022\tProvision of equipment that will encourage the joy of learning \r\n\u2022\tProvision of equipment that enables creativity in play \r\n\u2022\tCreative design that will enhance the natural world \r\n\u2022\tA safe play surface and equipment compliant with BSEN1176 and BSEN1177 \r\n\u2022\tWhere possible, as much of the materials to be used are from recycled or sustainable sources\r\n\u2022\tProvision of a full maintenance schedule \r\n\u2022\tUse of qualified/registered installers\r\n\u2022\tAll contractors to be DBS checked",
