Ultra Electronics Command and Sonar Systems is the Design Authority for PDM systems and holds exclusive intellectual property rights for the design, software and test infrastructure. The supplier alone has the specialist knowledge and equipment to maintain and update these systems. For interoperability and safety reasons, only this specific PDM equipment can be supported, and only the supplier can deliver changes in line with Navy Command requirements. This contract is necessary to maintain operational capability and readiness of RN and RFA vessels.",
