The new station will be located on the existing electrified track\ninfrastructure on the West Coast Mainline (WCML) near to the site of the old Golborne\nstation. As part of the overall scheme, the new station would be served by an hourly service\nbetween Wigan North-Western and Manchester Victoria.\nThe Golborne project incorporates the wider Wigan masterplan scope which includes\nhighways and public realm alterations which maximise opportunities in the adjacent car park,\nimproved traffic flow and junctions\u0027 layouts and enhanced active travel and pedestrian\nmeasures within Golborne town centre.\nTfGM have appointed a suitably experienced Main Contractor for the\nDetailed Design, Construction and Handover (ES 5 \u2013 8) of the works at the agreed Golborne\nStation site.\nA two-stage approach to the procurement (via the Restricted Procedure) and delivery of the\nDetailed Design to PACE ES5 and Construction Phase ES5 \u2013 ES8 has been implemented, as\nfollows:\n\u2022 First Stage : Detailed Design to ES5/Form B \u2018Approved for Construction\u2019 (AFC) status to\nascertain a fixed price lump sum for the construction works. This will also include the\ndevelopment of value engineering options, innovation, and constructability for the delivery\nof the Golborne Rail Station project based upon the completed ES4/Form A design.\n\u2022 Second Stage: the period of construction, entry into service and hand back for the\ncompleted station based on the ES5/Form B approved design from the First Stage.",
