The ICB has experienced a number of practices serving notice on the prescribing of Adult ADHD medication (and are following suit on paediatric ADHD medication prescribing). The intention was that these patients would return to the specialist service that prescribed the medication originally in order to get their ongoing care. There is significant risk that if this award was not made there would be an impact on this cohort of patients to their health. The reason for the urgency was not foreseeable by and is not attributable to the relevant authority and delaying the award to conduct a full application of the PSR would be likely to pose a risk to patient or public safety.
