    "procurementMethodRationale": "Npower is the contracting authority\u0027s incumbent supplier of electricity across the SWR estate. The electricity supply arrangement was originally procured by the former owning group of SWR and remained in place until 30 September 2025. \nFollowing SWR\u0027s transfer to public ownership, SWR was required to enter into its own contractual arrangements and could not continue to rely on the group contract previously in place. A short-term direct award was therefore implemented with the incumbent supplier to ensure continuity of electricity supply to operational railway infrastructure. This supports the safe operation of stations and facilities for passengers and staff and avoids exposure to non-contracted electricity tariffs, supporting value for money for the public sector.",
