The research sets out high level bullet points on \u2018\u2018How to make peer support a success in Wales\u2019 and these have been replicated below for reference:\nOrganisation\nBuild a team involving people living with HIV and key people from the community and clinical services\nEnsure the team understands the community\nFresh start but learn from lessons of past\nSteering group that reflects all stakeholders\nRobust governance and accountability\nCommunity\nCommunity commitment to peer support\nDiversity of mentors\nRequire a mix of experience among representatives\nService\nClear fit with other services\nIntegrate evaluation into the service\nHigh quality training\nSensitive matching process\nSlow growth and flexibility\nClinical Services\nChampions of peer support in clinic\nEnsure buy-in from clinical staff\nProcesses\nOpen communication\nSustainability\nCreate links between NGO and NHS\nMutual understanding between clinicians and mentors\nNot funded by NHS due to budgetary pressures\nThe Welsh Government\u2019s Programme for Government set out ambitious commitments to both develop an HIV Action Plan for Wales and tackle the stigma experienced by those living with HIV. In March 2023, the HIV Action Plan for Wales 2023-2026 was published and contains 30 actions aimed at eliminating HIV transmission within Wales and achieving zero tolerance of HIV-related stigma by 2030.",
